So as many of you have heard...I am engaged to Pascal Koch!!!! I have been requested several times to tell the tale so I figured I would blog it so everyone can hear the story and no one is left out. Enjoy!
Once upon a time...jokes!
Well back in December some time I decided that I would buy Pascal and I tickets to NYC to visit my aunt and uncle. God just blessed me with the finances for that; so I didn't see a reason not to go.
I never told Pasc until a few weeks ago that way we would both be able to share in the excitement.
So thurs night, February13th, we drove down to TPA and flew out at 7 to JFK. We arrived safely and had a wonderful morning on valentines day with my aunt and uncle. ( for those curious we have separate bedrooms). At 10, we went on an incredible boat tour on a small yacht and saw the Statue of Liberty and other famous buildings. We then went to Central Park zoo. Then we went thru Central Park to the metropolitan museum of art. We were there til 6. Everything was perfect. Except I was really tired and ready for a nap.
Pasc though really wanted to spend our first official valentines day together going out to eat and going on an adventure. So first we went back to the apartment. Linda gave Pasc and I directions to Johns pizza place in Greenwich village. We walked rather than taking buses which was fun. Then when we had to take the subway...We got lost and ended up in Carroll st near Brooklyn on the other side of the river...BUT after a bit of confusion we got off, figured where we were and laughed as we headed back to Manhattan Island. It was an incredible pizza! We ate the whole thing!
We then took the subway back and went to the park across from my aunt and uncle's apartment. Walked over the bridge, past the courts, found a cool bench and sat just enjoying the view. Moon was full and high, the bridge was glowing with the lights all lit, fresh snow was left untouched everywhere, Pasc was by my side, the benches were dry, and it was perfect!
Pasc wanted to keep walking and come back to the bench, but I told him we can never come back to this moment so asked if we could stay. He read an email he never sent me about how much he loved me, cared for me, and wanted to protect me. So this night couldn't get any better.... Then he told me he had a surprise for me.
He stood up, smiled at me, reached in his pocket, started to pull something out of his pocket, and whatever it was got stuck... He couldn't get it out.
BUT he did eventually got it after I laughed at him for a while. It was a little box, he got down on one knee and said my full name and asked if I would marry him.
I never understood why it takes girls so long to say yes, but I was so excited, so over joyed and just surprised... I said yes eventually. Gave him a huge hug and cried my eyes out!
He put the ring on. We sat down, he told me how two weeks earlier he asked my dad, he bought a ring with Sean and Natalia, and my dad and Pasc were going through a study together specifically for marriage.
Walked back to the apartment, my aunt and uncle were in bed. I heard someone get up for the bathroom so I called for them. He came around the corner. I held my hand out, he didn't understand. I flicked him with my ring finger, and he said two words... And walked back to get my aunt.
She came out alarmed and confused. I showed her my ring and we spent a long time laughing and celebrating.
It was a great day! Thanks for reading!
However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things GOD has prepared for those who love him— (1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV)
